Ichinose Tokiya & Nanami Haruka
The Characters // History // The Relationship
ICHINOSE TOKIYA
Ichinose Tokiya is a student of Saotome Academy who was sorted into S class but was later downgraded into A class. He has dark-blue hair usually with a lock reaching his nose, and matching eyes (light blue shown in chibi images). He tends to wear his uniform primly and neatly, showing his perfectionist attitude.
Tokiya is a very cool person and considered a perfectionist. Hyuga Ryuya comments that his singing doesn't have 'heart', which makes him frustrated as his singing doesn't seem to improve in the least. He seems cold at the beginning of the series, which may be because he felt guilty about what he was hiding. He was slightly upset that his acting wasn't enough to help Hijirikawa overcome his embracing problem in season 2, since he was considered to be better at it than his companions.
His parents are divorced. His father left him and his mother because of Tokiya's ambition to become an idol. He struggled to become an idol. After a short period of time, his agent began to push him to do other things instead of singing, which bruised his pride and took him away from his passion.
NANAMI HARUKA
Nanami Haruka is the heroine of Uta no☆Prince-sama♪. She entered Saotome Academy with hopes of becoming a music composer in order to write songs for her idol, HAYATO. She has short, reddish-orange hair and golden green eyes in the game, manga and anime. She is also of medium-short height, but is still shorter than almost all other characters in the series.
She is a shy, honest girl, shown to be rather restless and possesses an optimistic personality. Whenever she is unlucky or having a bad day, she remains confident. She's a very hard-working girl who has an ability to move people's hearts. She has been dubbed as the Goddess of Music by Tsukimiya Ringo and Shining Saotome because of her composing and ability to create beautiful music. She is rather naive and a klutz, but she makes up for it with her perseverance and her efforts to become a great composer. She also can be really nice to people.
As a child, Haruka had poor health, so her parents decided to send her to the countryside to live with her grandmother. There, she eventually learned how to play the piano.
Once she returned to the city, her health began to fail once more due to the amount of people and pollution. While she was panicking, HAYATO appeared on a big screen, his music flowing through the air, calming her down. Her new goal then was to compose a song for HAYATO to sing, so she applied to Saotome Academy.

BACKSTORY
When Tokiya and Haruka first met, he had acted rather cold towards her. This was likely the result of either his guilt about keeping his identity as HAYATO from his classmates. Aside from the agency staff and Shining Saotome, Haruka was the first to know that HAYATO and Ichinose Tokiya were one and the same. When ST☆RISH doubted that he would come to one of their practices, prior to learning about him being HAYATO, she had been the only one to believe that he wasn't purposely skipping out on them - knowing that he was just really busy with his activities as HAYATO.

FRIENDSHIP
The friendship between the two of them can be difficult to describe. Despite the fact that Tokiya has become considerably warmer to most of his peers, he can still be quite cold in regards to Haruka. However, when she became worried that ST☆RISH might have to disband if they lost to HE☆VENS, it was Tokiya that brought her back from her slump.
ROMANCE
For all intents and purposes, there shouldn't be any romance visible between them as idols are not supposed to fall in love. However, at the same time, it's impossible to NOT notice the connection that's just sort of there.
It would be nearly impossible for people like Tokiya and Haruka to be just friends. If it weren't for the fact that idols weren't allowed to have romantic relations, it wouldn't be too surprising if one were to discover that they had been hiding a relationship. They inspire each other to be the best that they can be. She brings out the passion in his music while he inspires almost each of her songs in some way or another.
